Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
