A highly anticipated trial experience will become available on January 7th, offering a sizable look into the game's beginning segments. Importantly, all save data made within this demo can be carried over directly into the complete game upon its February launch.
Beyond Just a Straightforward Remake: The Complete Reimagining
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined represents a ground-up reinterpretation of the iconic year 2000 RPG, first titled Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a distinct departure from recent Dragon Quest re-releases, like the recently released HD-2D iterations, this version adopts a charming 3D aesthetic. Environments have been crafted to resemble intricate miniature worlds, with party members having a delightful stylized look.
"Considering the previous remake, the main quest was still notoriously long. Consequently, the team came to a decision that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] make this experience for contemporary audiences."
Significant Gameplay Improvements & Updates
The creators have introduced a host of modernizations to update the classic gameplay loop. Among these are:
- Expedited Overworld Battles: Similar to contemporary role-playing games, weaker monsters can now be defeated instantly on the field without initiating a separate traditional combat sequence.
- Variable Combat Pace: Gamers can speed up combat animations to quickly power through less challenging fights.
- Expanded Job Mechanics: A brand new character role has been introduced for this remake. Additionally, party members gain the capacity to take on a secondary vocation, significantly enhancing customization possibilities.
Such alterations are aimed at address one of the original title's common points of feedback: its considerable scope. The initial storyline was known to take over 100 hours to see through. The new edition was specifically structured to refine flow and cut down on perceived bloat.
