The Renowned Musician Urges Support to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced after a solidarity show held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of music creators. The track features a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the campaign have stated that their objective is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”

The situation in the region was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
