The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing action and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving gripping, ideologically themed stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose projects have embodied all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game series, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by featuring a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series through their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their steady belief and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone series. Every title is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, daring style to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
