Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Raise Tension on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be real Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth top-flight at home defeat of the year.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' second goal when Vicario gave away possession well outside his area.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and took the ball towards the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to the keeper again, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

A particular of those jeering episodes really irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our fans reportedly booed the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager commented about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals can't be true Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting one another, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second-half performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' disappointment," Hart added. "I am aware the role the keeper is playing. He is a great team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."

'It is Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italian national team the keeper is in his third season with Spurs.

He said following the game that he had to take the feedback.

"The second goal was a error of my own, I take responsibility for it," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a bad way. It was an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He stated being booed "is part of football".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad loss and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's mistake, it was not an simple score for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League score of the season – after Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an empty goal to target.

Ten seconds passed between Vicario exiting of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was five moments after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," he said.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders returned to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest lit up somewhat.

"Udogie fell as well, which allowed me a bit of additional time. Then it was all about trying to achieve the right contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, the moment it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Bad Spell, Everything Appears to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

While Vicario's mistake dominated coverage, this was an overall poor day for Spurs to extend their home woes.

This was their tenth home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint club record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to come prior to the close of the year.

Only one of those victories have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are down 2-0 following the opening, there is a huge challenge to overcome," stated the boss.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you as well – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another match. Every game has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."

Tottenham have lost 4 straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their poorest averages on file in a one season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a high profile role at a major football club with enormous expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
